Carlos Villab\u00f3n, a renowned Colombian artist born in 1983, presents \u201cPesos Livianos<\/strong>\u201d (Lightweights). This exhibition will be on display from September 3<\/strong> to October 3 at the Yaco Art Gallery. Through his work, Villab\u00f3n invites us to reconsider how the most common objects, which many of us overlook, are steeped in history and unexpected beauty. This is a great opportunity to enjoy his work up close and learn more about his art. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

Throughout his career, Villab\u00f3n has explored different artistic movements, from Impressionism to Surrealism. This artistic evolution has established him as a versatile creator, capable of combining his skill in large-format painting with profound conceptual reflection. His works, which always explore the duality of light and darkness, demonstrate how everyday materials act as mediators that shape our perceptions and feelings. <\/p>\n\n

In his most recent project, \u201cPesos Livianos\u201d<\/em> (Lightweights), Villab\u00f3n uses plastic bags as the main characters. He uses the folds and colors of the bags to reveal childhood memories and family images. Each piece not only makes us think about how we handle waste, but also functions as a transparent canvas that hides and reveals images at the same time. <\/p>\n\n

Villab\u00f3n invites us to look closely at the textures and the way light passes through the bags, while reflecting on the impact of our actions and the real value of what we consider \u201cdisposable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

With Pesos Livianos<\/em>, Villab\u00f3n presents us with a very powerful idea. Plastic bags are very light, but when they come together in his work, they acquire weight, presence, and greater meaning. It is a visual reminder of how something that seems so light in our hands can leave a heavy and lasting mark on our environment.
