On Thursday, October 22, we will open the exhibition Imaginary Dialogues by artist Marcelo Suaznabar. Marcelo’s work invites us into a universe where reality and imagination intertwine, bringing to life playful, complex, and surreal scenes. In Imaginary Dialogues, various beings, characters, and zoomorphic creatures inhabit dreamlike landscapes; they undergo transformations and form unexpected connections, creating a space for interpretation and discovery.

Born in 1970 in Oruro, a mining city in the Bolivian highlands shaped by a deep-rooted folkloric and spiritual tradition, Suaznabar discovered drawing as his primary means of expression at an early age. Inspired by his uncle, he began to explore the use of color. Throughout his career, his visual language evolved from religious themes and the influence of the colonial Baroque toward a freer exploration of color, fantasy, and the surreal.

In Imaginary Dialogues,, the landscape of the Bolivian high plateau, the altiplano, occupies a central place. The memory of this native environment reappears as a setting charged with energy, mystery, and symbolic power, from which emerge hybrid figures and unexpected situations that defy logic. These images arise spontaneously in the artist’s imagination and are captured through drawing, preserving their intuitive and enigmatic nature. Transformations, time, nature, and space thus construct a universe in which every element seems to take part in a silent conversation.

Through Imaginary Dialogues, Marcelo offers a perspective in which memory, symbolism, and fantasy coexist to expand the boundaries of reality. His compositions invite the viewer to forge their own connections and discover new meanings within each scene. Imaginary Dialogues will remain open to the public until November 12.
