Villabón

Carlos Villabón, born in El Espinal, Tolima, in 1983, has been a passionate observer of the reality around him since childhood. His inspiration arises from the austere and magical environment that characterizes the Colombian countryside. From his early years, he began to capture on canvas what he saw around him, refining his technique over time.

Throughout his career, Villabón has gone through various artistic stages, evolving in all aspects. Although he has established himself as a conceptual artist, he has never ceased to be a skilled painter capable of creating large-scale works. His work, which began as impressionist, has moved through the visual play of surrealism and paid homage to art history, evolving into creations that provoke unease and raise numerous questions, without sacrificing the inherent beauty of traditional painting. He explores the duality of light and darkness, examining how the materials that surround us act as mediators between these two voids, how those materials shape our imagination, and how they give form to our perception and feelings.
