Carlos Villabón is a Colombian artist born in Espinal, Tolima, in 1983. His work stems from the observation of everyday life in Latin America, transforming common objects into scenarios for visual and conceptual reflection.
Through painting, Villabón investigates how simple materials can alter our perception and activate new interpretations of memory, consumption, and collective experience. In several of her series, she uses recognizable elements, such as plastic bags filled with water, which she displaces from their usual function to transform them into images charged with poetic tension.
His work explores the relationships between light, transparency, and materiality. The refraction of water, shadows, and translucent surfaces create compositions where the ephemeral and the permanent coexist in the same space.
Throughout his career, Villabón has developed a body of work that combines visual sensitivity and symbolic reflection, inviting the viewer to reconsider the way they perceive the objects and meanings that are part of everyday life.
