Isabella

Despujols

Her proposal is based on creating a body of work that intertwines the affectivity and intimacy of the embroidery process with the mathematical study of geometric figures. In this way, the result is a set of pieces that reveal a unique embroidery technique, developed by the artist herself, which generates sensations of movement in the viewer, inspired by the kinetic works of Soto and Cruz-Diez.

The work of Isabella is an approach to “affective geometry.” The carefully constructed forms in each composition are inspired by the concrete, optical, and kinetic movements of the last century. This choice is not arbitrary: the artist’s main objective is to exalt and elevate the female tradition of embroidery, generally confined to craftsmanship and the domestic sphere.
